What Gulf authorities usually look at
The exact rules differ by authority. These four things matter almost everywhere.
Qualification
Your nursing diploma or degree from a recognised institution, with mark sheets and internship.
Registration
Valid registration with your state nursing council, kept up to date with renewals.
Unit experience
Years of work, and the units where you worked, shown through letters with dates and designation.
Licensing exam
A computer-based nursing exam set by the authority, where one applies to your profile.
How your qualification affects your options
Authorities and employers treat diploma and degree nurses differently. Here is what that usually means.
GNM
Many Gulf employers and authorities accept GNM nurses with enough experience. Some roles and countries prefer or require a bachelor's degree.
BSc or Post Basic BSc Nursing
A bachelor's degree opens more employers and usually more options for categories and roles.
MSc Nursing
Useful for senior, teaching and management roles, and for some specialist categories, along with relevant experience.
Good to know: Depending on your qualification and passport category, emigration clearance may apply when you travel for work. We check your case and tell you what to do.
Your journey as a nurse
The order can vary by country, but most nurses follow this path.

Documents every nurse needs
- Passport with enough validity, and recent photographs
- GNM, BSc or MSc Nursing certificates and mark sheets
- Internship completion certificate
- State nursing council registration, with latest renewal
- Updated CV that matches your certificates exactly
Experience documents
- Experience letters on hospital letterhead
- Dates, unit or ward, and designation on every letter
- Number of beds or type of unit, where possible
- Specialty training or short-course certificates
- Details of a reference or HR contact for each employer
Licence route by country
The authority depends on where you will work. Details change, so we confirm the current position for your case.
Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates each have their own authority. A licence from one emirate does not automatically cover another.
Nurses are registered and classified before they can practise. Verification and an exam may apply.
All practitioners must be registered and licensed by DHP. DataFlow is an approved verification provider.
NHRA licenses nurses. Verification and an exam may apply, depending on your qualification.
Registration goes through the Ministry of Health. The route depends on the facility you will work in.

- Booking an exam before eligibility is approved
- Paying anyone who promises a guaranteed job
Common questions from nurses
Can GNM nurses apply for Gulf jobs?
Often yes, if you have enough experience and the employer and authority accept diploma nurses. Some roles prefer a degree. Send your CV and we will tell you your options honestly.
I am a fresher. Can I apply?
Many authorities and employers ask for some years of experience. We will tell you what applies to your profile and how to build the experience you need.
Do I have to pass an exam?
Most authorities require a licensing exam for nurses, though some profiles may be exempt. We check your qualification and tell you whether an exam applies.
Does my unit experience matter?
Yes. Employers often hire for a specific unit such as ICU, OT or ER, so clear letters showing your unit and dates help a lot.
What salary can I expect?
Salary depends on the employer, country, unit and your experience. We do not quote guaranteed figures. We help you read and compare your offer before you sign.
Do I have to pay the hospital or an agent for a job?
Be careful with anyone who asks for money to guarantee a job or visa. We never do. Our service fee is explained in writing before you pay.
