What Gulf authorities usually look at

The exact rules differ by authority. These four things matter almost everywhere.

Qualification

Your medical or dental degree, internship and any postgraduate degree, from a recognised institution.

Registration

Valid registration with the National Medical Commission or your state medical council.

Experience

Years of clinical practice after registration, shown through letters with dates and designation.

Good standing

A certificate from your council confirming there are no pending issues, where requested.

How your category is decided

Authorities place doctors in a category based on qualification and experience. The category affects your exam, role and job options.

Entry level

General practitioner

Usually a medical degree with internship and some post-registration experience, depending on the authority.

Postgraduate

Specialist

Usually a recognised postgraduate qualification such as MD, MS or DNB, along with relevant experience.

Senior level

Consultant

Usually a postgraduate qualification with several years of experience in the speciality. Authorities decide the level.

Good to know: Some qualifications, such as certain board certifications, may qualify for an exemption from a licensing exam in some authorities. We check this for your profile before you book anything.

Your journey as a doctor

The order can vary by country, but most doctors follow this path.

  1. Profile review

You send your CV and we tell you your likely category and the best countries for your profile.

  2. Document preparation

We give you a checklist and check names, dates and experience letters before anything is submitted.

  3. Verification and attestation

DataFlow verification and attestation are completed in the right order for your destination.

  4. Eligibility and exam

We help with the authority application and the licensing exam, where one applies.

  5. Employer matching

Your profile is shared with hospitals and clinics hiring for your speciality.

  6. Licence, visa and travel

After an offer, we help with licence activation, visa documents and travel readiness.

Documents every doctor needs

  • Passport with enough validity, and recent photographs
  • MBBS or BDS degree and mark sheets
  • Internship completion certificate
  • NMC or state medical council registration, with renewal
  • Experience letters with dates, department and designation
  • Updated CV that matches your certificates exactly

Extra for specialists and consultants

  • Postgraduate degree certificate and mark sheets (MD, MS, DNB, DM, MCh)
  • Specialist registration, where your council issues one
  • Fellowship or training certificates
  • Letters showing years in the speciality
  • Logbook or procedure list, for surgical specialities
  • Certificate of good standing, when requested

Licence route by country

The authority depends on where you will work. Details change, so we confirm the current position for your case.

UAEDHA, DOH, MOHAP

Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates each have their own authority. A licence from one emirate does not automatically cover another.

Saudi ArabiaSCFHS

OmanMinistry of Health, OMSB

The route depends on your speciality and whether you will work in a government or private facility.

KuwaitMinistry of Health

Make your CV Gulf-ready

  • List jobs in order, with exact start and end dates
  • Mention your speciality, procedures and patient volume
  • Add your registration numbers and validity
  • Keep dates the same on your CV and your letters
  • Keep it to two pages with a clear photo and contact details

Mistakes that slow doctors down

  • Experience letters without designation or dates
  • Different spellings of your name across documents
  • Attesting documents before confirming the route
  • Booking an exam before eligibility is approved
  • Paying anyone who promises a guaranteed job

Common questions from doctors

Can I apply with only an MBBS?

Yes, in many cases, usually as a general practitioner. The experience needed varies by authority and employer. Send your CV and we will tell you where you fit.

Do I need a postgraduate degree to work as a specialist?

Usually yes. Authorities typically expect a recognised postgraduate qualification and relevant experience for the specialist and consultant categories.

Is a licensing exam compulsory?

Most authorities require one, but exemptions can exist for certain qualifications. We check your profile and tell you whether an exam applies.

What salary can I expect?

Salary depends on the employer, country, speciality and your experience. We do not quote guaranteed figures. We help you read and compare your offer before you sign.

Can you place dentists as well?

Yes, we guide dentists through the same steps of verification, licensing and employer matching. Their exams and categories are separate from physicians.

Can I apply to more than one Gulf country?

Yes. Each country and authority needs its own application, though some documents can be reused. We help you plan so you do not repeat work or spend twice.

Ready to start your Gulf journey?

Send your CV and we will tell you your likely category, the right country and what to do first.
